Elford Village

Parish Council June news

Thanks to all the residents who came to the Annual Parish Meeting in May – the minutes and reports from local groups are now on the website elfordparish.co.uk under village information. We hope you find them interesting! The school and church were invited but didn’t make it to the meeting.

At this week’s Parish Council meeting which began as usual with Open Forum at 7 (residents are always welcome to this or indeed to observe the whole meeting, second Monday of every month except August) two main issues were raised. The organiser of the Coffee Shop kindly offered to donate last year’s proceeds towards the taxi service so that it can run an extra trip some weeks for ANYONE who needs this service not just the regulars. Contact Barbara Harcombe for times and to book a place. Coffee shop funding will also help to repair the playground, with a working party to take place in September.

A resident raised concerns about the planning application for 25 houses on land off the Shrubbery, the Parish Council will send in comments to the Planning Department but residents should do so too. This is on appearance, landscaping, layout and scale for the erection of 25 dwellings including new access and vehicle turning area, see Lichfield District Council’s website under planning and use ref 19/00662/REMM to see the documents.

Parking for the Scarecrow festival was discussed, concerns about wet weather plans had been answered.

The Parish Council had enquired about a Right of Way through the Sports Club car park and had been told that it was not a public route, although it has been used as such and appears on maps going back for many years. Further enquiries are being made to resolve this.

The Council approved all the Audit paperwork and this is now available on the website and notice board for anyone who wishes to read it.
