Outdoor Fitness Equipment

We'd like to know what local people think about the following proposal!

A resident has offered to donate funds towards the purchase of some outdoor fitness equipment for adults to be located in the village.

Is this something you would use? If so, what sort of fitness equipment?

Where should it be installed?

Is there something else you think the village needs?

Are you happy for the Parish Council to arrange this and pay future maintenance costs?

Please send us your views by the end of June - either email clerk@elfordpc.co.uk, talk to one of the Councillors (Ed, Mike, Phil, Tim or Richard Smith), drop in a note to the PC post box, or respond on the Elford News Facebook page. We'd like to hear from our residents!

Playground

You may have noticed that the fences inside the playground have now been removed and the gaps in the surfacing have been filled professionally. This should keep the playground safer and pleasanter for some time to come. Many thanks to our Councillor Jason Standerwick for his help with this!

The Parish Council are very grateful for two sources of funding for this work.

County Councillor Alan White has made a grant of £1,000 towards the renovation work from his Local Member's Fund and we'd like to say a big Thank You for this.

We have also received a donation of £1,219 from the profits of the weekly coffee shop held at the Village Hall, THANK YOU to Irene Standerwick who has started this welcome initiative to help villagers to get to know each other, and has kindly donated funds for the playground. This means that the Parish Council are able to retain some of the funds previously donated by the playground volunteers to earmark towards future new equipment when the older items wear out and need replacing.

A working party to clean the play area will take place later in the Spring, all are welcome to come along to help!

We still need volunteers to help with the weekly inspections so that we keep the insurers happy.  More people are needed for our rota, so please contact Margaret on clerk@elfordpc.co.uk if you can help with this for a few minutes about four times a year,

Help required

Calling all Elford people -

The Parish Council have taken over the former phone kiosk in Church Road. if you would like to help with the upkeep or have a good idea for its use, please contact us on clerk@elfordpc.co.uk or 01827 50230.

We are also considering an 'adopt a pot scheme'; some residents already plant up and water the flower tubs near their property,  if you would like to make your part of Elford look even better, please let us know if you wish to help.

Anyone wishing to be added to the rota of those who inspect the play equipment to check it is safe for the children to use, please get in touch. It will only take a few minutes 2 or 3 times a year.
