Neighbourhood Plan Result

More than half of those who voted in the Referendum have voted in favour, so the Plan wil go forward to be 'made' and used as a planning document when deciding on planning applications for Elford.

Thank you to all who went along to vote, and all who helped to prepare the Plan.

Twinning ceremony

Twinning with Awoingt, France

On June 24th the twinning agreement was signed by representatives of Elford and Awoingt. Cllr Phil Turley signed the agreement on behalf of Elford Parish Council, and the Mayor, M. Lechowicz, on behalf of Awoingt.  Visitors from Awoingt were welcomed to Elford on the weekend of 25th August, when a reciprocal signing ceremony and various social events took place.

Elford Parish Council look forward to many years of this association.

Lichfield District Small Business Grants

The Lichfield District small business grant scheme offers grants of between £500 and £1,500 to local small businesses and start-ups looking at overcoming financial barriers to growth.

A maximum of 50% of the costs of the total project can be applied for (overall project cost is capped at £3,000 to get the maximum grant).

Eligibility

Applicants must first receive support from the Enterprise for Success programme before their grant application is processed.

To be eligible, an applicant must be one of the following:

  • An individual who is a permanent resident and looking to start up a business within Lichfield District.
  • An existing small business (up to 10 employees) located in Lichfield District that has been trading for no more than three years.

The grant can go towards the following eligible costs:

  • marketing purposes
  • ICT software and hardware
  • office equipment e.g. laptop, desks, chairs
  • professional qualifications or training e.g. ISO, professional body membership
  • equipment to support product or process development and business growth

To apply for the grant, you will need to have first received support from Enterprise for Success who will provide you with an application form. The Economic Development service can refer yourself to the programme.

Once you have the application form, please email us a copy of the following completed documents:

·        a completed and signed application form

·        a business plan

·        financial projections for two years

Any goods or services bought before or ordered prior to the grant approval date set out on the confirmation letter will not be reimbursed by us.We cannot guarantee all applications will be successful, with a limited amount of funding available per year. Applications will be evaluated and scored based on meeting the aim of the scheme, to support business and employment growth and helping to deliver our priority of a vibrant and prosperous economy.

The scheme will run for three years, from 2018 to 2021, with a pot of £20,000 funding available for each financial year. The closing dates for the first two rounds in this financial year are 28 December 2018 and 22 February 2019 where £10,000 shall be awarded. After this, the 2019/20 and 2020/21 rounds will close on the last Friday of the following months: May, August, November and February with £5,000 being allocated per round.

Neighbourhood Plan Referendum

The Neighbourhood Plan has now been examined by a Planning inspector. His report is available on the Neighbourhood Plan page. 

Lichfield District Council have now confirmed that the Plan will go forward to Referendum on November 29th.

Referendum

The Referendum on the Neighbourhood Plan will be held in Elford on Thursday 29th November  to decide on the following question:

Do you want Lichfield District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Elford to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?

The referendum will take place in the Shakespeare Room, Elford Village Hall, between 7am and 10pm.

Village Bus service

Staffordshire County Council has now withdrawn the 82 bus service. They are currently tendering for a reduced service to serve Elford and other local villages, but this process may take around two months. In the meantime Elford Parish Council and Edingale Parish Council have arranged the following twice a week service to Tamworth with Solus:

Leaves Elford Social Club at 9.30 (stopping at other former stops) to Tamworth at 9.45

Returns from Tamworth Corporation Street at 1.15, to Elford at 13.30.

Sorry no wheelchair access.

This is a private hire service funded by Elford and Edingale Parish Councils. If a volunteer is willing to collect donations of £3 and to forward these to a Councillor these will be used to keep the service going for longer.

This service wil be extended to Harlaston on a 3 month trial basis from October 23rd but may be curtailed if not well enough used by Harlaston residents.

Post Office closure

As customers may already know, the Post Office service at the Village Hall, (for which the Parish Council pays the rent to keep this service in the village) is currently closed. The Post Office are trying to find someone to run this facility and will keep us informed.

New handyman

The Parish Council have appointed a new handyman to help keep the playground and other areas of the village tidy.

He is Alan Robey and if you see Alan at work please say hello!
