Elford’s annual scarecrow festival is gearing up for another bumper year. The festival takes place this weekend, August bank holiday, Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th August. Walk around Elford and view the scarecrows on display. Car parking is free opposite the Cricket Field, voting/route programmes will be on sale at the Village Hall, The Crown Pub, on Stalls and from ‘roving volunteers’, there will be tea and cakes at the Village Hall on both days, a B-B-Q at the Crown Pub on Saturday and the Village Hall on Sunday, the Crown will be serving its usual Sunday Lunch on Sunday. ‘Sunflowers’ with a stop at the Village Hall for some face painting will mark a special children’s route. Included in the stalls will be books, white elephant and a bottle stall. St Peter’s Church and Elford Village Hall will share all profits. This is the last year the event will run in this format, so it is your last chance to see it!
